I would like to introduce myself as Paige Lee, am a 23-year-old golfer currently playing on the Symetra Tour and can say I am living my life literally out of the suitcase and my Toyota Corolla on the road – my ROAD2LPGA.
Here I will be sharing my stories, week by week on my performances and my coaching schedule to give you guys a first-hand view of how a golfer struggles, enjoys and performs when required.
My first event on the Symetra Tour was at the Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout in El Dorado, Arkansas. It is a long way from home, precisely 30 hours and two time zones. Although I had been travelling 12 hours each way from Northern California to Arizona and vice versa for the past year and a half, this was going to be my first cross-country road trip.
The decision to drive to Arkansas stemmed from saving as much as I can while travelling from event to event. With flight, car rental and hotel costs, it adds up quickly without even realizing it. I was so excited to be playing in my first Symetra event. I was eager to get on the road. Not really knowing what was ahead, I packed my Toyota Corolla to the fullest, and I took off from Sacramento, California to the south with enthusiasm.
I have been travelling alone on these road trips, and let me tell you not a single moment goes by where I feel it’s dull, it’s always rocking and full of adventures. From worrying about hitting a deer, elk or warthog, sleeping in casino parking lots, driving 15 hours a day, to priceless laughs with friends, calling my parents and swing coach after making the cut, chasing my dream, I am blessed to have this opportunity.
With having just started my busy summer schedule, it has been a great experience thus far. I am very excited to continue my rookie year on the Symetra Tour and continue my trek across the United States.
I will be heading for Texas, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania this month.
You could say this is my road to the LPGA.
Stay tuned to learn more about my journey and where golf takes me.
