Shubhankar Sharma and Gaganjeet Bhullar struggled in brutal afternoon winds at the famous Valderrama course in Spain to both miss the cut which was the highest of the year at 6 over par.

Sharma was coming off a brilliant 3rd place finish last week at the Spanish Open which moved him into the top 60 rankings for the US$ 9mn DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.

Gaganjeet Bhullar, playing in his second event since his return after an almost two month break missed the cut by four strokes at Valderrama despite a 2nd day 69.

While Sharma is confirmed to maintain his exempt status on the European Tour for the 2022 season, Bhullar,  ranked 151st might have to divide his time between Europe and Asia.

The Asian Tour has announced its resumption with two US$ 1mn prize money events in Phuket during Nov/Dec in Thailand and boosted with a joint sanction of the US$ 5million Saudi International in Feb 2022, is looking at heightened purses provided travel sanctions in Asia are relaxed.

Shubhankar is taking a break next week while Gaganjeet will play the US$ 1.2mn Mallorca Open before returning to India for a two week break before heading to Dubai for a new European Tour event there.
